Jockey Quotes - Inglis Nursery

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the $500,000 Inglis Nursery (1000m) at Royal Randwick.

Jason Collett (Within The Law): “I didn't know a lot about her (in the trial) that day. I came in a bit scratching my head. I went back through her form and had a sit on her Tuesday morning. It started making sense. I was confident today that I’d be strong late. I was able to position where I was as long as I got the split I’d be strong.

“Half of these were first starters and you could see that behind the gates. The way they were acting, my filly was the professional and she needed to be. Really good effort.”

Josh Parr (Cobra Club): “Really good performance. The draw cost us.”

Tyler Schiller (Sequista): “Great first up run on debut. She is probably still a bit raw. She didn't know how to let down properly in the straight. She has done a good job and I thought through the line she was doing her best work. She will get a bit further.”

Tommy Berry (Telling): “He went well. He jumped too well today. He’s a lot better horse riding him midfield. He will be better over 1200m as well but don’t drop off him. He’s got ability.”

Reece Jones (Falcon Gold): “Just really colty at the moment. Mind is not on the job.”

Regan Bayliss (Farset): “Just needs time to mature.”

Chad Schofield (Imaginate): “Nice young horse. I think he is going to improve a great deal from today’s experience.”

Tim Clark (Gobi Desert): “She had a really tough run. Probably at the end of the prep.”

Zac Lloyd (Artistic Venture): “Lovely filly. She will benefit a lot from the day out.”

Jay Ford (Deep Affection): “Good experience for her. She will end up getting over a middle distance but a nice debut.”

Winona Costin (Gail Jeanette): “She ran really nice. She will improve with that. Not a 1000m horse but a nice horse.”

Rachel King (Sunrise Ridge): “Tough gate made it a bit tough for her today.”

Kerrin McEvoy (Cantiamo): “She didn't fly out of the barriers which was costly. Mustered to go through and gave a little kick. Was weakening the last little bit because of that early work. Nice filly.”

Blaike McDougall (Vingt Neuf Noir): “Nice filly. Just a bit new still.”
