Jockey Quotes - Inglis Nursery

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the $400,000 Inglis Nursery (1000m) at Royal Randwick.

Jason Collett (El Padrino): “He seems to just take it in his stride really well. He bounced well today, he did get a bit of a squeeze, but I suppose it’s that race experience, he had a bit more experience on them.

“He was able to sit there, albeit wide, I clicked him up and he got a bit lost into the straight, he wandered left and then he found it again and he was good through the line.

“In some ways (El Padrino and Sejardan) they’re similar types. Upstairs is probably why they’re winning. They may not have that superstar class about them just yet, but their brains and education wise, they’re taking it all in and doing it professionally.

“That was 1000m and further is probably going to be good for him too. Like I said, experience, he’s taking it in and doing it professionally.”

Tommy Berry (Calgary Stampede): “He was really good. He jumped so well when I gave him a bit of a kick to go forward. He got a bit keen there for 100m and it probably told late. He’s a big immature colt and 12/1400m is his go so we’ll have a lot of fun with him.”

Tim Clark (Athletica): “Really good effort. He’s come a long way. Really nice colt.”

Hugh Bowman (Boldinho): “Unlucky obviously. Lovely colt. One to follow.”

Reece Jones (Bonus Tempus): “Lovely little ride. Jumped out well. Probably looking for a little bit further. Will make a nice horse.”

Andrew Adkins (Glint Of Silver): “Thought his effort was great. Drew 15 and basically stayed there. Stuck to his task in the straight.”

Kerrin McEvoy (Lord Of The Hunter): “He’s stuck on well. He’ll be better next prep.”

Jay Ford (Valspar): “First time out it got the better of him today.”

Josh Parr (Wild Irish Rover): “Nice performance.”

Kathy O'Hara (Capital Elle): “Really nice debut for her. She is a nice filly, needs a bit of furnishing. Happy with her performance.”

Tyler Schiller (Mandalong Missile): “She was great. She just needs a bit further.”

Rachel King (Paved With Gold): “Very green at the start but ran on OK.”

Brock Ryan (Queen Of The Stars): “Was very green and new but she will come back a better filly.”

Alysha Collett (The Seven Seas): “Fantastic run.”
