Jockey Quotes - Heineken Metropolitan

Mirage Dancer dived late to grab Mugatoo in a thrilling finish to the Group One Heineken Metropolitan (2400m).

Nash Rawiller (Mirage Dancer): “He travelled like the winner the whole race. Gee he travelled nicely. I had a lot of horse at the home turn and I just sort of got on the right horses back in Tim Clark and Hush Writer and he just took me as far as I needed to go to get out and he did the rest. He is a very good horse."

Hugh Bowman (Mustajeer): “He was good. He needs a softer track. He is going well.”

Kerrin McEvoy (Mugatoo): “Great run. Looked the winner until the last little bit. Great effort.”

Sam Clipperton (Wu Gok): “He tried hard. The track is too firm for him.”

Regan Bayliss (Etah James): “Knuckled at the start. We are better off being forward and flowing then settling back off that tempo.”

Brenton Avdulla (Brimham Rocks): “He ran really well. Wide the trip but still stuck it out.”

Tim Clark (Hush Writer): “He ran really well. Obviously had a lovely run. Felt like I was the winner on the turn but the others dashed past.”

Robbie Dolan (Carif): “He ran a race. He’s looking for further now.”

Rachel King (Rondinella): “Was a good run. Just a little bit of a messy race which didn’t suit her.”

Tommy Berry (Angel Of Truth): “Massive run. He got a nice time in front and was able to capitalise on that late.”

Louise Day (Azuro): “Very good run. Was a long way back and covering ground. His sectionals will be as good as half the field.”

Kathy O'Hara (Paths Of Glory): “Nice effort from him. Probably got beaten today by a bad draw. He is around the money.”

Glen Boss (Girl Tuesday): “She ran terrific. Today was the first day she jumped and wanted to be there. When I drew the outside barrier I was stuck in no man’s land. When they went really slow I decided to take it up.”

Jess Taylor (Miss Sentimental): “Not quite up to this.”

James Innes (Zebrowski): “He got into a good enough rhythm to be towed into it. Thought he was disappointing when push comes to shove.”

Alysha Collett (Norway): “They went a bit quick for him.”

Andrew Gibbons (Attention Run): “Missed the break away and never got into the right spot.”

Brock Ryan (Sir Charles Road): “Wide no cover and just didn’t finish off.”
