Jockey Quotes - Golden Eagle

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the $7.5 million XXXX Golden Eagle (1500m) at Rosehill Gardens.

Hugh Bowman (I’m Thunderstruck): “Just amazing. I’ve been riding a long time and I’ve ridden some amazing horses as we all know and the feeling that I got today is what it’s all about.

“I balanced up, I was full of running and left Brock’s back (Brock Ryan - Count De Rupee) at the top of the straight because I was going so well, I didn’t want any excuses being held in.”

“While I was making my way clear, Brock’s skipped away and he put about four-and-a-half lengths on us I think, but I didn’t panic.

“I balanced him up and when I went for him he found, but at about the 200m he swapped legs and I just had to sit there while he got himself organised. Honestly, I was a passenger. He just took me to the line and I just made a point of not getting in his way and he delivered in spades.”

Brock Ryan (Count De Rupee): “I feel like I’m gonna cry because I just got beat. Super effort. I thought I was the winner from the moment we straightened. Just got run down late.”

Tim Clark (Vangelic): “She was super brave. A bonny mare who never runs poorly.”

Jim Byrne (Apache Chase): “He was game. Probably sitting three deep made me it difficult.”

Nash Rawiller (Private Eye): “The horse was enormous. It was against the pattern today. A fair few excuses.”

Jason Collett (Aegon): “Disappointing.”

Jay Ford (Aysar): “He had a tough run from the wide gate. That told late.”

Andrew Adkins (Aim): “Not everything went to plan. It was a bit firm for him.”

Kathy O'Hara (Amish Boy): “Little bit disappointing in the run on today.”

Lee Magorrian (Exoboom): “He ran a nice race.”

Josh Parr (Ellsberg): “I never felt like we were in the race. Very disappointed in him.”

Robbie Dolan (Love Tap): “Really good run. Hit the line well. Probably short of his best distance.”

Tommy Berry (Laws Of Indices): “Massive run. Four deep no cover the whole way. The gate cost us today.”

Alysha Collett (Maximal): “Fantastic run. A bit more pace in the race and it would have been a bit more exciting for him.”

Brodie Loy (Reve De Vol): “Really nice horse. Just needs further.”

Jean Van Overmeire (Forbidden Love): “Just had to do a little bit too much to cross. That told late.”

Jack Martin (Media Award): “Was a good run. I think she will appreciate getting over further and probably a bit lesser grade.”

Glyn Schofield (Atishu): “Enjoyed a nice run.”
