Jockey Quotes - Gimcrack Stakes

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 3 $200,000 Keenland Gimcrack Stakes (1000m) at Royal Randwick.

Regan Bayliss (Platinum Jubilee): “She’s gone around like she’s already had five or six starts. She got squeezed out of the barriers and she was back off them, but really travelled well through that ground. We weren’t going good enough at the top of the straight to come right to the outside so we just weaved through them, and the more we got into the race she started to pick up and was dominant in the end.”

“Absolutely electric. She’s one that probably trialed the less favourable out of the two fillies of Gai (Waterhouse) and Adrian’s (Bott) but she’s the one that’s probably taken leaps and bounds since the trials, so she’s going to be pretty exciting in the future.”

Tim Clark (Perfect Proposal): “Excellent effort. She has done a good job there. Winner was just a bit strong for her late.”

Kerrin McEvoy (Divine Glory): “Good positive run by her. For her first run she jumped out and sat close. Gave a good little kick and she’s run well.”

Hugh Bowman (Achlys): “She ran really well. She has improved a lot from her trial and has a lot more improvement left in her.”

Kathy O'Hara (Blind Date): “I don’t mind her as a horse. She will have learned a lot out of today. She came into it with just the one trial. She was a bit green in parts. Happy with her last 100m.”

William Pike (Just Gisella): “She ran really good. Just couldn’t find much momentum out there.”

Sam Clipperton (Kata Kapi): “Just very green and needs more time.”

Rachel King (Queen Of The Mile): “Testing track just found her out a bit today.”

Tommy Berry (Satin And Silk): “I was really happy with her effort today. She showed a lot of fight. We came in here thinking she would be a lot better on top of the ground from her trial. Hopefully when we see that on top of the ground she will be more impressive.”

James McDonald (Sicilian): “Lovely debut. She executed beautifully but just the ground held her back.”

Chad Schofield (Sky Artist): “She ran a nice race. She was up on the pace three wide and was game up the straight.”

Tyler Schiller (Winning Run): “She just found it a little bit tough on the heavy track but has a little bit there.”

Jason Collett (Miss Belgium): “Tracked the winner but wasn’t going as well as it.”

Dylan Gibbons (Outcast Girl): “Handled herself quite well. Just still very raw when she came off the bridle. Will take a lot from it.”
