Jockey Quotes - Frank Packer Plate

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 3 $160,000 ACY Securitires Frank Packer Plate (2000m) at Royal Randwick.

Hugh Bowman (Senor Toba): “I certainly had more confidence in him going forward than I did in speaking about him on radio this morning. He gave me a really good feel. He appreciated that tempo. Then when Craig (Williams) made a bit of a mid-race move, it injected a bit more pressure into the race which worked into his favour. I don’t like to get too far ahead of myself and don’t like to suggest races for horses too much but this horse has Queensland Derby written all over him on what I felt today.

“No doubt at all about stepping out over further. Without any overseas contracts coming up I’d like to be able to stick with him going forward. Delighted for Chris (Waller) and connections. They’ve been huge supporters of the stable. Had a lot of success in recent years and this horse has put the writing on the wall to be a top level performer in the near future.”

James McDonald (High Supremacy): “Lovely horse. Just needs to find more. He has more to offer.”

Tommy Berry (Achiever): “We almost stole it. He showed a good bit of tenacity. Enjoyed being on his own in front and a wet track will help him more. Maybe a Queensland Derby.”

Brenton Avdulla (Lion's Roar): “He had a lovely run. Just wasn’t at his best today but he’s still run well and had a really good prep.”

Craig Williams (Khoekhoe): “I recommended that they geld him. He did so many things wrong. I know he’s a good horse but today was terrible attitude wise.”

Jason Collett (Real Peace): “Keen in the run. He was just found wanting late.”

Tim Clark (Santadeal): “For an inexperienced horse he’s done a pretty good job against more seasoned 3yos.”

Billy Owen (Call Me Artie): “Just outclassed.”
