Jockey Quotes - Doncaster Prelude

Sydney's iron horse Cellarman made it seven wins from his past 11 starts as claimed his first Group win.

Find out what the jockeys made of their horses’ runs in the Group 3 Doncaster Prelude (1500m) at Rosehill Gardens.

Brenton Avdulla (Cellarman): “It’s always good to ride a winner. It’s a tough time of year to get good rides but to get an opportunity for the leading stable and make the most of it is good.

“Speed was lovely. I drew soft so my job was pretty easy. I was able to find a spot and travel comfortably a few pairs back. He’s a horse a who has a good turn of speed when you can use it. I just bided my time, the split came halfway up the straight, and he took it like a good horse.”

Adam Hyeronimus (Ecuador): “Super run first up. Very happy.”

Kerrin McEvoy (Mister Sea Wolf): “Ran well, just had to go wide on the corner.”

Jason Collett (Duca Valentinois): “Worked home good, just needed a bit of area.”

Tye Angland (Interlocuter): “Just raced like a 2000m horse. Travelled good, found two lengths quickly but then just plugged away. Started building late but the race was over.”

Michael Walker (Montauk): “Ran good.”

Andrew Adkins (Shiraz): “A little bit disappointing for the run he had. Travelled well, worked through them well, just didn’t let down as good as I was hoping. Whether the first up run took a bit out of him, might’ve been a little flat today.”

Craig Williams (Spectroscope): “I thought he went really well. It’s hard to make ground today, he got back. He struck a bit of nose complaint up the straight so I thought he stayed on well.”

Corey Brown (Radipole): “Every chance, probably a bit short.”

Jay Ford (Sir Moments): “He tracked wide throughout and was beaten at the turn.”

Christian Reith (Snippets Land): “Good run. Tried real hard.”

Tim Clark (Kingsguard): “He ran really well. He had a nice run, battled away strongly.”

Damien Oliver (Sound Proposition): “Disappointing.”
