Jockey Quotes - Chelmsford Stakes

Samadoubt proved his first up win in the Winx Stakes was no fluke with a dominant victory from the front in the Bob Ingham G2 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m).

Tim Clark (Samadoubt): “Amazing. He’s just gone to a new level this time in.  He was a lot more comfortable today over the mile and drawing out. I was able to just cruise across in my own time. It took me to the first turn to get across but I was never worried. He relaxed well and just built up underneath me nicely."

Samadoubt all the way

Kerrin McEvoy (Avilius): “Wasn’t able to get any cover in the race. Worked into it, gave a nice effort but his run just peaked in the last 150 yards after having that run without any cover. A nice enough run and for sure he’s going to come on from that again and probably ground with a bit more juice in it might suit him better.”

Kathy O'Hara (Finche): “Really good return from the horse, he’s in for a great preparation. Obviously the further the better for him but he was really reaching late.”

Jay Ford (Shraaoh): “Obviously too short for him but he was very fresh and he will certainly improve off that.”

Tommy Berry (Patrick Erin): “He’s getting a little bit older now so he has to get to 2000m plus to see how how well he’s going and then we can make an assessment on him then.”

Josh Parr (Haripour): “A very sound effort, ran through the line really strongly.”

Andrew Adkins (Sir Charles Road): “Bounced into a nice rhythm and a nice spot. Got pocketed around the turn and struggled to try and get out but he’s looking for further anyway.”

Nash Rawiller (Maurus): “He ran well. Probably go to 2000m next time and be competitive for sure.”

Jason Collett (Brimham Rocks): “Really good run, found the line well.”

Luke Currie (Angel Of Truth): “Really happy with him. Rolled up outside the leader, probably just got a bit tired otherwise he was going to hang on and run second so he’s going really well.”

Brenton Avdulla (Unforgotten): “Very disappointed. She had a lovely run and before the corner on the back of Avilius I thought she was going to be very competitive but she didn’t finish.”

Hugh Bowman (Youngstar): “I was really pleased with her, great run.”

James McDonald (Girl Tuesday): “Super run. Obviously making ground is hard work so she did a good job.”

Glen Boss (Nettoyer): “She went well, really good.”
