Jockey Quotes - Breeders' Plate

Global Quest speared through the pack to win the G3 Arrowfield Breeders' Plate (1000m) for the Chris Waller yard. This is what all the jockeys had to say.

James McDonald (Global Quest): "Very smart colt. He’s so professional in what he does. He is race savvy, jumps extremely well, takes a position, relaxes and he has got a good sight about him too. A lovely, lovely colt that is going to go places."

"He’s really smart, imposing, big and strong. I took not from the two-year-old trials to now a lot of them had gone off the boil, sweating up, but he was a cool customer walking around like an old pony."

Tommy Berry (Barbaric): “Massive run, lovely colt. Had to go too far back from the gate and left him with too much work to do, he hit the line really strong late.”

Jay Ford (Bay Of Bengal): “Obviously found them a bit too good for him, but the day out and the experience will do him good for long term.”

Adam Hyeronimus (Belieber): “He’s an exciting colt, had a little bit of an awkward run, being trapped wide and then having to take them ball up to them at the top of the straight. He’s done a good job to finish where he did.”

Hugh Bowman (Beyliks): “He’s a beautiful colt and he’s only going to get better as the distances get further.”

Glyn Schofield (Circularity): “He’s taken progression he’s stepped out and today was another improvement on his trial so I’d suggest he’ll improve again off today, it was a good run.”

Jason Collett (Gamboa): “Knuckled bad at the start, settled good in the run and finished it off okay.”

Andrew Adkins (Lamelo): “Didn’t jump that great and wanted to over-race the first half of the race, a little bit disappointing in the straight. He might be able to bounce back next prep.”

Brenton Avdulla (Mr Colorful): “Seems to have trained off since his trial, he didn’t really go at all.”

Kerrin Mcevoy (Nitrous): “Showed some speed, he just didn’t switch off like I would have liked and in that ground he just got a bit tired that last furlong.”

Tim Clark (Postcode): “Ran very well, just got held up after straightening, would have made it interesting, he’s a nice colt.”
