Jockey Quotes - All Aged Stakes

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 1 $600,000 Schweppes All Aged Stakes (1400m) at Royal Randwick.

Brenton Avdulla (Kolding): “I felt in control a long way out when Tagaloa dropped off. Just had to get there and take my time. He just lacks that turn of speed that he had a couple of preps ago. He felt the winner and Hughie was on top of him pretty quickly and got a head in front of me. To my bloke’s credit once he felt her there he lifted into another gear and showed his G1 dominance.

“I’m lucky enough to ride for the stable. It’s my second G1 for Chris. He puts on a variety of riders but it’s always nice to put the white bridles and white reins on for Chris Waller. To ride a winner for Neville Morgan who has been a big owner for Chris. I remember the days when I first came to Sydney. I was riding Secret Admirer against Rangirangdoo. It’s a pleasure to ride a winner for them.”

Hugh Bowman (Savatiano): “Disappointed.”

Jamie Kah (Cascadian): “Amazing run. Very unlucky.”

Tommy Berry (Masked Crusader): “Just had too much work to do from there”

Jason Collett (Prague): “Jumped with them today. Just went back off the barrier.”

Craig Williams (Zoutori): “Shame I couldn’t utilise that barrier. I wish he’d jumped more cleanly to sit much closer. He over-raced a little bit. For the time that they ran he ran extremely well under the circumstances where he positioned.”

James McDonald (Dreamforce): “He ran super. Very proud of him. He’s a privilege to ride that horse.”

John Allen (Fifty Stars): “He’s run super. Was caught a bit flat footed at the top of the straight. Another fifty yards and he nearly wins it.”

Glen Boss (Imaging): “He’s going OK. He probably just really needs a 5 or 6 track to suit this horse.”

Rachel King (Kementari): “Really happy with that run.”

Kerrin McEvoy (I Am Superman): “Would have liked to settle better.”

Luke Currie (Tagaloa): “He had a bit of work to get over. He was a bit plain in the straight.”

Tim Clark (Peltzer): “Track’s a bit quick for him.”
