Jimmy Barnes To Rock Longines Golden Slipper Day At Rosehill Gardens

Australian rock legend Jimmy Barnes will perform live at Australia’s biggest day of Group One racing, Longines Golden Slipper Day at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday March 23.

The exclusive live concert – included in the general admission ticket entry price for fans at Longines Golden Slipper Day – will be performed after the last race in the heart of Sydney’s west.

The $3.5 million Longines Golden Slipper is the world’s richest race for two-year-olds and one of five Group One races on a huge day of sport and entertainment in Sydney.

Jimmy Barnes is the heart and the soul of Australian rock & roll. His nickname, “Barnesy”, conjures up thoughts of rock music at an ear-splitting volume, and of soul standards given a unique reading.

Jimmy has been through it all, and literally lived to tell the tales. He has sold more records in Australia than any other local rock & roll artist.

He has enjoyed 15 #1 albums here – more than the Beatles – and for over 40 years he has delivered some of our most intense and iconic live performances. He is truly in a league of his own.

Australian Turf Club Chief Executive Jamie Barkley said: “Rosehill Gardens is among Australia’s best venues and Jimmy Barnes will rock one of Sydney racing’s biggest racedays like never before.

“Longines Golden Slipper Day will not only be another iconic day for racing fans but one for Australian rock and music fans everywhere.”

Jimmy Barnes said: “For all those people in Sydney who’ve wanted a local gig, I’ll be playing at Rosehill Gardens on March 23 previewing some new tunes from My Criminal Record plus lots of older ones too.”

The concert will be one of many highlights of the Longines Golden Slipper Carnival at Rosehill Gardens – Chandon S Ladies Day on March 16, Longines Golden Slipper Day on March 23 and the family oriented Stakes Day on March 30.

Racegoers can enjoy savings of up to 40 per cent on general admission tickets to all Sydney autumn race days when purchased before January 31. Hospitality packages are also available.
