ROSEHILL GARDENS – BEST BET: Race 7 # 2 – Rustic Steel

He is ready to peak third-up with a strong platform, and his ratings/sectional profile supports this. The gelding has had too much to do in both runs this campaign and racing better than the form guide reads. First-up in the Sydney Stakes (1200m), his run had hidden merit when having the race shape against, but he ran on well, clocking some of the meeting's fastest closing splits. Further, his final 400m was only one length inferior that day to subsequent Giga Kick Stakes (1300m) winner Bella Nipotina. He just got too far back in a high-pressure race last start in The Hunter (1300m) after being restrained from a wide draw, but to his credit, he closed off solidly. The six-year-old receives a significant barrier change, allowing him to settle closer, gets conditions to suit and has multiple winning figures.

ROSEHILL GARDENS – BEST VALUE: Race 6 # 5 – MARSABIT

He won this race last year and represents value. The Danny Williams trained galloper has had no luck/factors against in recent starts and expecting him to improve significantly here. The gelding is suited on the rain-affected ground where he produces his peak figures, but more importantly, he gets an anticipated race shape to suit. In addition, all his best performances have come in genuine tempos and with a touch of luck from an awkward draw, expect him to race above market expectations.

ROSEHILL GARDENS – SECTIONAL STAR: Race 4 # 2 – GALLANT STAR

He is a lightly raced galloper resuming off a long break and expect him to race well fresh. The Dubbo trained four-year-old got into an awkward spot first-up last preparation in a TAB Highway (1100m) and also had the pace against. However, he showed a solid closing speed, and Punter's Intelligence recorded he ran the equal fastest final 200m in 11.86. He's trialled up well, maps to have all favours and is a key late market watch.

NEWCASTLE – PROVINCIAL PICK: Race 6 # 9 – TELLEZ

Profiles well for this event and returns as a gelding this preparation. First-up last campaign his run had hidden merit in a high-rating race at Warwick Farm. Further, he was wide with cover, working at a fast pace and tried hard all the way to the line to run fifth behind some smart types in Les Vampires/Encap. He looks to have come back well, coming through a fast time heat; maps to have all favours from the inside draw and expect him to be hard to hold out with even luck.
