ROSEHILL GARDENS – BEST BET: Race 7 # 7 – HOO YA MAL

Is ready to improve third-up with a strong platform, and the rise in distance is ideal. The five-year-old was solid first-up in the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) after getting too far back and then had excuses in the 7 Stakes (1600m). Further, his effort had more merit than the form guide reads after being not suited to the sit/sprint race shape and then checked/blocked for most of the straight. His sectional/ratings profile suggests he can peak here, 1900m suits and expect an aggressive ride from a favourable draw.

ROSEHILL GARDENS – BEST VALUE: Race 8 # 15 – PALMETTO

Represents value and is another runner set to improve third-up with a strong profile. The gelding raced in the inferior ground first-up and then was solid in defeat last start in the Group 3 Cameron Handicap (1500m) at Newcastle. Moreover, he chased a fast tempo and tried hard when running second to Democracy Manifest. The gelding started the same price as that runner, who was subsequently placed in a Group 1. He can bounce on the speed with no weight, the anticipated high-pressure event will suit, and he has run to a consistent figure that can put him in the finish.

ROSEHILL GARDENS – SECTIONAL STAR: Race 3 # 8 – PIEROSSA

The Peter & Paul Snowden gallopers run had sectional merit last start after being unsuited by the race shape. Further, she got too far back in a moderate tempo but picked up well to close off into second behind Marquess. Punter's Intelligence recorded she ran the second-fastest final 200m race split in 11.43, and 2000m fourth up now suits from a soft draw. It's worth noting her career peak figure came at this track/distance last preparation.

KEMBLA GRANGE – PROVINCIAL PICK: Race 1 # 3 – MISS REILLY

Her debut run had merit at Newcastle 21 days ago in a race that produced a high-rating last section relative to the day after adjustments. The filly was immediately restrained from a wide draw and wasn't suited to the slow pace. Further, she had her momentum haltered multiple times in the straight but still ran one of the fastest final 400m splits of the meeting and hit the line well to run second behind Left Field. She can settle closer from the inside draw and the 1500m second-up suits.
