Free Entry To Royal Randwick For State Of Origin Ticket Holders This Saturday

Racing and rugby league come together at Royal Randwick this Saturday 23 June as Sydney gears up for a huge weekend of sporting action.

The Australian Turf Club hosts the inaugural Matt Callander Charity Raceday at Royal Randwick, in honour of the Channel Nine rugby league identity who passed away following a brave fight with brain cancer.

Matt Callandar, son of legendary racing journalist and broadcaster Ken Callander, was instrumental in establishing the Beanie For Brain Cancer NRL round, held for the second year last month.

A sold out function in the Royal Randwick Ballroom this Saturday will help to raise awareness and funds for the Mark Hughes Foundation and the Living Cancer Trust who support cancer patients.

The function will include a guest list of NSW Blues players on the eve of State Of Origin Game II in Sydney.

In celebration of the State of Origin match, ATC is offering all ticket holders to Sunday’s game free entry to the track.

Patrons simply need to present their game ticket at the ATC Box Office near Gate B or at the infield gates at Royal Randwick to receive complimentary entry.

A nine race program will be run on Saturday with market odds available here.

The Royal Randwick track was rated a Heavy 9 on Thursday morning.

A full report by Nevesh Ramdhani, Royal Randwick Track Manager, is available here.

The first race on Saturday is at 11.25am and last race at 4.25pm. Gates open at 10.30am.
