Everest Carnival Continues At Royal Randwick (Saturday)

Sydney’s Everest Carnival continues at Royal Randwick this Saturday on City Tattersalls Club Cup Day and the running of the inaugural $1 million Bondi Stakes.

Following last week’s hugely successful The TAB Everest, Sydney’s perfect spring weather is set to continue to shine across Royal Randwick on Saturday.

The $1 million Bondi Stakes for three-year-olds continues Sydney’s expanded spring racing program, with the front-running Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Just Thinkin’ the early $3.90 TAB fixed odds favourite for top jockey Tim Clark.

He’s followed in the market by Chris Waller colt Kubrick ($4.60) for jockey Brenton Avdulla and the Gerald Ryan-trained colt Bottega ($4.60) to be ridden by The TAB Everest-winning jockey Glen Boss.

Bottega’s stablemate Colada with jockey Robbie Dolan aboard – following their last start win in the Stan Fox Stakes – is next in the TAB market at $8.

The Group 3 $200,000 ICD Property Nivison sees the highly consistent Peter and Paul Snowden-trained mare Reelem in Ruby a $3.30 favourite with jockey Tim Clark.

Chris Waller-trained and Brenton Avdulla-ridden Madam Rouge is a $4.60 chance ahead of the James Cummings Godolphin-trained Multaja at $5 for jockey Glyn Schofield.

Tim Clark’s strong book of rides continues in the Listed $200,000 Southern Cross Group Brian Crowley Stakes on the talented Waterhouse and Bott-trained colt Faretti ($2.25), ahead of Group 1 winning trainer and jockey combination Mark Newnham and Josh Parr with Diamond Thunder ($5).

The Listed $140,000 Clubs NSW City Tattersalls Club Cup over the 2400m continues the Australian Turf Club’s long association with one of Sydney’s other most historic clubs.

Hawkes Racing’s Master of Wine is at $2.60, a fourth early favourite in each of Saturday’s black type races for jockey Tim Clark.

Rapido Chaparro at $4.40 for the Waterhouse and Bott stable and jockey Robbie Dolan, and Attention Run ($4.80) for jockey of the moment Glen Boss and trainer Kris Lees are next in betting.

The Royal Randwick track was rated a good 4 on Thursday afternoon with fine and warm weather forecast right through until Saturday night.

A full track report recorded this morning with Royal Randwick Racecourse Manager Michael Wood is available below.
