Tash Burleigh’s 'Hectic' Schedule Reaping Rewards

Goulburn trainer Tash Burleigh isn’t afraid to travel a horse in search of prizemoney and today she heads south to Moruya with a genuine shot at a race-to-race double with her in-form gallopers Hectic and Ribands.

Hectic kicks off Burleigh’s two-pronged attack in the third leg of the quaddie, a benchmark 55 event over 1300m and she has the gelding in career best form. Since resuming back in April, Hectic has gone to the races on six occasions for a win, three minor placings and two top four results.

Despite being deep into a winter campaign, Burleigh believes Hectic still has plenty to offer punters today: “He’s racing very consistently and he’s the sort of horse that always put in whenever he goes to the races," Ms Burleigh said.

“He’s not a big horse but we have always thought we could get him out to this type of trip if we took our time with him. He’s an easy horse to travel and the soft draw gives him plenty of options. We are confident he’ll run well again.”

Burleigh’s other runner the speedy Ribands steps out in the last on the card at Moruya, having notched two wins and two minor placings in his last four starts. Despite having to lump a genuine leveller in 62kg, Burleigh is happy with where she has the son of Raheeb going into today’s sprint trip.

“We can’t fault his work of late. He’s loving his routine and still really thriving. He’s slightly back in trip but the wide draw isn’t a big concern as he tends to get back in his races.”

Based in Goulburn, the Burleigh stable heads down the highway to Moruya today with an air of confidence after its latest runner, Wings, saluted at Kembla Grange on July 8.
