'Support Our Hawkesbury' Raceday On Easter Monday

Hawkesbury Race Club’s new Easter Monday date will be dedicated to supporting the Hawkesbury region devastated by the recent floods.

Initially scheduled to race on Tuesday, the club has welcomed Racing NSW’s decision to move the meeting with no public holiday racing scheduled for Sydney on Easter Monday, and quickly got on the front feet to make it a special occasion.

“We have themed the day ‘Support Our Hawkesbury’, and it will be FREE general admission with a gold coin donation,” HRC’s Business Development Manager, Lea Porteous said today.

“All donations will go to the NSW State Emergency Service, which did such a tremendous job assisting people in our region who were affected by the floods.

“It is a great opportunity to thank SES for the marvellous work they do, and keeping our community safe.”

Not only will the “Support Our Hawkesbury,” Raceday be a gold coin donation to enter the track, but the club has decided to also keep food and drink prices at a minimum.

“The Snack Bar menu will be $5, and the same price for bubbles and beers,” Ms Porteous said.

“There will be live music and kids’ entertainment, and we look forward to welcoming everyone on course to enjoy a fun family day and of course great racing.”

Racing NSW has also decided to offer midweek metropolitan prizemoney, meaning all seven races carry $50,000 purses.

Whilst it is a new date, the original Tuesday program stays the same, but there will be earlier deadlines as a result of the switch.

Nominations for all races close at 11am tomorrow (Tuesday, March 30), and weights will be issued by 4pm on Wednesday. Acceptances must be declared by 9am on Thursday (April 1).

The Easter Monday program consists of a Benchmark 64 Handicap (1300m), Class 1 Handicap (1100m), Class 1 Handicap (1500m), Class 1 & Maiden Plate (2000m), Maiden Plate (1100m), Maiden Handicap (1400m) and 2YO Maiden Plate (1000m).
