Strong Nominations For The TAB Epsom & The Metropolitan

Strong nominations for two major spring races – the Group 1 $1 million TAB Epsom (1600m), and Group 1 $750,000 The Metropolitan (2400m) have been received.

A total of 89 horses were nominated for this year’s TAB Epsom, and 73 horses in The Metropolitan, to be both run at Royal Randwick on Saturday 30 September.

ATC Executive General Manager of Racing James Heddo said: “It is pleasing to see such good numbers in both races with all the leading stables strongly represented.

“In particular we are pleased with such strong support from leading Victorian trainers including Darren Weir, Robert Hickmott and the Hayes and Dabernig team.

“This year’s Sydney Spring Carnival is shaping as one of the strongest and most exciting yet.’’

Weights for both feature races will be released by Racing NSW on 18 September.
