Stewards Inquiry - Natalie Lye Disqualified For 12 Months

Racing NSW Stewards today resumed an Inquiry opened on 20 June 2017 in respect of the improper conduct charge under AR175(q) that had been levelled against Ms Natalie Lye.

The charge related to Ms Lye entering a restricted area of the female jockey’s room between races 3 and 4 and engaging in improper conduct by assaulting Apprentice Jockey Ms Crystal Conning at the Hawkesbury Race Club meeting conducted on the 24th July 2016.

Having considered the evidence with particular reference to that of a witness who today provided an account of Ms Lye entering the female jockeys room at the Hawkesbury Race Club during the relevant time at which Ms Conning was assaulted, the stewards having regard to the Briginshaw Standard of proof, found the charge of improper conduct could be sustained and formally found Ms Lye guilty of improper conduct.

Ms Lye was disqualified for a period of 12 months effective from today.
