Stable Collects Own Race Named After Superstar Winx

By Mark Brassel

"I think they must have went through the fields and seen where our best chances lay before naming the races," laughed Charlie Duckworth, stable foreman for the Chris Waller stable.

Duckworth was referring to the naming of the race - the Winx Hall of Fame Handicap - labelled after the stable's champion racemare who has just entered the Australian Racing Hall of Fame.

Invinzabeel ($12) wound up strongly down the outside for Tye Angland to claim the race by two lengths from Berry Delicious (Josh Parr, $12) with Moher (Deanne Panya, $7) a further nose away in third place.

Duckworth was also quick to point out Winx is about to return for her spring campaign: "She comes back from her spell on Monday - it comes around so fast."

Invinzabeel was a chance to be withdrawn from Saturday's contest due to the expected rain: "It turned out lucky for the owners as they forecast rain all day and we were thinking about scratching. But it turned out OK.

"This horse has a good turn of foot when on the outside of other horses and he showed that today."
