Secret's Out Ahead Of TAB Highway

By Tony Megahey A Chris Waller discard in Confidential has found his country niche and finally winning form for the multiple TAB Highway Handicap winning team of Keith Dryden and Scott Collings into a $60,000 Class 3, 1600m episode at Royal Randwick on Saturday. Confidential is the stable elect after Capital Racing, regularly the main series danger to prolific winning Matthew Dunn, had also nominated previous Highway winner Force of Magic and Rock Prodigy. Dunn’s dominance is only too clear again as he has accepted with Gold Coast winners Cascata Rossa and Bronzed Venom along with Dia De Reys (NZ) a last start fourth at Doomben. However Dryden considers he has conditions to suit with Confidential, a last start Canberra 1600m winner whose 53kg on the minimum is further reduced by Andrew Adkins 1.5kg claim. “Dunn’s runners are always well placed and real hard to beat in these Highway races, but ours is in winning form with a nice weight drop, he’ll get the 1600m and the big track suits,” Dryden offered. “He closed off nice and strong with 56.5 back home, so he deserves an opportunity in this better grade. And of course it’s exciting for the big group of owners to have a runner on the big stage on a Group racing day.” Confidential was previously trained by Chris Waller. "As I understand this gelding wasn’t any cheap purchase, so the main thing is that we’ve won a race so the owners are recouping some of their investment. And hopefully more to come as he’s a lightly raced four-year-old. “I think typically Chris told them up front and honest, he wasn’t up to city class but often a new environment can make all the difference and breaking through in a class I instead of a maiden, is also a real good sign.” One of the Dunn stable runners it is likely to start favourite but Dryden’s Highway record and the weight pull will see Confidential solid in betting markets. Saturday is the final Highway lead up into the highly anticipated $200,000 Anniversary Highway at Royal Randwick next Saturday, run in conjunction with the Everest, the world richest turf race.
