There was plenty of intent shown in the latest trial win by 10. Long Legs to offset a wide gate and be on the speed and that’s a likely blueprint for what’s needed here. Showed promise in her first prep, it’s interesting she kicks off at this trip but with the light weight she looks a good chance.
Dangers: 12. Yattazou was only getting wound up at the end of 1200m second-up at Warwick Farm so the rise in trip will assist. Draws nicely again and there’s a good case for her to be in the finish. 11. Peace Bird comes through the same race where she sat second and looked the winner until Nitro swamped them late. Was a month between runs so sure to be fitter and a definite chance. 4. Botanist is a $900,000 colt out of former smart mare Tulip, who ran in the first Everest, and he’s had a few trials that haven’t really stood out. Must respect the stable and any market moves will be significant.
How to play it: Long Legs WIN ($4.80 TAB Fixed Odds).
Race 2 - 3:35PM RANVET HANDICAP (2400 METRES)

4. Thebudgiesmugla won a couple of races in NZ at 2200m and resumed at Hawkesbury with a nice closing second over 2000m. Has to be better for it, the extra trip looks ideal and he has a handy weight drop in his favour. Any sting out of the track a plus and this is a winnable race.
Dangers: 2. Format was solid in betting as he won that race at Hawkesbury, sitting handy and proving a touch too slick late. Also down in weight, drawn to be right on speed and has won at this distance. Definite chance. 6. Scottish Pearl was an all the way winner over this trip at Warwick Farm two weeks ago, only up 1.5kg and sure to give a good account again in a similar race. 5. War Ribbon was a shade disappointing second-up behind Scottish Pearl, he was under pressure a fair way out and just battled. Favourite there off a handy first-up run so worth another chance.
How to play it: Thebudgiesmugla WIN ($3.70 TAB Fixed Odds).
Race 3 - 4:10PM STAR TURN @ VINERY STUD HANDICAP (1500 METRES)
---
8. Silvanito looks particularly well suited to have a big chance to break through after three runs back. Nice effort behind Idle Flyer two back then kept running on at Kensington three weeks ago in this grade. Would love a bit of sting out and has four seconds from as many runs at this track. Chance to go one better.
Dangers: 7. Seven’s has been a bit disappointing of late when safely held at his past two. Has been well fancied too. Every chance to bounce back in the small field. 9. Super Mirage was kept safe on local debut for the Waller stable and it was a bit inconclusive as he wasn’t ridden out after a check in the straight. Should find clear running this time and could easily improve. 2. Nails Murphy is fitter for one run back, seems to have lost his way a little of late but still has an honest record and no surprise if he fares a lot better this time.
How to play it: Silvanito WIN ($3.20 TAB Fixed Odds).
Race 4 - 4:45PM ASAHI SUPER DRY HANDICAP (1800 METRES)
---
2. Unlimited has found his form with recent runs at Caufield including a win two starts ago and a solid second to Gilded Water at 2000m a month ago. Don’t imagine the 200m drop is an issue at all, some sting out would be no problem and he has to be hard to beat.
Dangers: 7. Brigidine Gal has been racing a shade below her best this time in since a promising first-up effort. Perhaps getting away from a firm track will help her, and if she finds her best she’s one of the main chances. 1. Pocketing raced on speed and just battled away in this grade last time out. He’s another not in his best form at present but, again, if he can lift he’ll be capable of giving it a shake. 6. Kind Words chased home okay when resuming three weeks ago and the rise in distance and 7kg drop are in her favour. Second-up form isn’t the best but otherwise she can run well.
How to play it: Unlimited WIN ($2.50 TAB Fixed Odds).
Race 5 - 5:20PM CALERIE LIFE SPRINT (1100 METRES)
---
9. Taxation is a very interesting filly coming up quickly in grade after an impressive debut win at Hawkesbury a few weeks ago. It’s a bit of a leap of faith that she can measure up but she’s well bred, showing promise and it won’t surprise if she is good enough to win.
Dangers: 6. Strada Varenna won impressively on debut back in February then started favourite in the Magic Night and ran fourth after leading. Had an issue after the Kindergarten but has trialled well and can be kept safe. 9. Ninette is another up and comer who resumes after a maiden win at Wyong on a heavy track back in May. Easy trial winner leading in, may have some work to do from the gate but couldn’t disrespect her. 1. Kimberley Secrets is an honest mare who rarely puts in a bad one when placed to advantage and she’ll have her chance with a soft draw and the claim on the back of a solid third at the Farm two weeks ago.
How to play it: Taxation WIN ($6.00 TAB Fixed Odds).
Race 6 - 5:55PM CALERIE LIFE HANDICAP (1400 METRES)
---
5. Miss Hades had something of a mixed preparation last time in but she’s very much a type who needs things to fall in her favour and when they don’t it gets tougher. Draws well, both trials back are promising and a soft track wouldn’t harm her. Good each-way chance fresh.
Dangers: 9. Mamushka has found one better in her past two runs in this sort of grade and steps to 1400m now after chasing home Rubi’s Serve at Kensington three weeks ago. Sure to run well, small query if we have a deteriorating track. 2. Just Glamourous couldn’t get into the race at all when safely held first-up on pretty quick ground at Warwick Farm. Suited up in distance and any give is in her favour. Likely improver. 3. Hyperbolic hasn’t raced since a handy third at Rosehill in May on a heavy track. Kicking off at this trip is a plus and should improve on whatever she does here.
How to play it: Miss Hades EACH-WAY ($11 TAB Fixed Odds).
