Reasons For Decision - Appeal By Carl Poidevin

Appeal by Carl Poidevin
Licensed trainer Carl Poidevin lodged an appeal against penalty after being found guilty by Racing NSW Stewards under AR178 AB & AR175. On 8 May 2018, Mr Poidevin was disqualified for 22 months, thus allowing him to reapply for his trainer's licence on 8 March 2020.

This followed the detection of a prohibited substance in a raceday inspection of Mr Poidevin stables from urine and blood samples taken from Master Agar and Tony’s Princess.

On application of the Appellant, which was opposed by the Stewards, the Principal Member refused a Stay of Proceedings. This appeal was heard on Friday, 20 July 2018 commencing at 9:30am.

The panel gave the following orders:

  1. Appeal against penalty dismissed
  2. Penalty of 22 months Disqualification for breach of AR178AB & AR175 confirmed
  3. During the period of the disqualifications, pursuant to AR182, on and from 8 November 2018 the appellant is permitted to provide services as a farrier, and only as a farrier on licensed premises and racecourses.
  4. Appeal deposit forfeited
