Racing NSW Handicapper Comments - TAB Epsom

Weights for the TAB Group 1-Epsom Handicap (1600m) - Saturday, 4th October 2025

A total of 96 nominations has been weighed for the 160th running of The TAB Group 1-Epsom Handicap (1600m), to be staged at Royal Randwick on Saturday, 4th October 2025.

This year’s edition of the Epsom Handicap will be run for $1.5 million with a 50kg minimum weight (48kg minimum for three-year-olds).

The honour of topweights this year has been given to Group 1 winners Light Infantry Man (Fr), Ceolwulf (NZ), Private Eye and Royal Patronage (Fr) with 58kg.

Next in line on 57.5kg is Another Wil, Tom Kitten, Gringotts (NZ) and Arapaho (Fr).

The highest weighted mare with 57kg is the two-time Group 1 winner Stefi Magnetica, winner of the 2024 Group 1-Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) and the 2025 Group 1-Doncaster Mile (1600m).

Multiple Group 1-winning mare Treasurethe Moment has been asked to carry 56.5kg.

This year we have three 3yo horses nominated including 2025 Group 1-Champagne Stakes (1600m) winner Nepotism. All three 3yo horses have been allocated the 48kg minimum.

The 2025 Group 2-Tramway Stakes (1400m) winner Pericles has been allocated 57kg and the 2025 Group 2-Theo Marks (1300m) winner Autumn Glow with 54.5kg, are currently the only two horses exempt from ballot.
