Rachel Hunt has moved to equal 5th spot on the Rising Star Series ladder after winning her first heat for the season at Wagga today.

It was a trifecta for female apprentice jockeys, with Carly Frater-Hill hanging on for second, with Chelsea MacFarlane third.

Despite finishing unplaced, Nyssa Burrells collected one point to further her lead in the series with 23 points, ahead of Mikayla Weir (20) and Blaike McDougall (18).

Andrew Adkins (17) is fourth while Hunt, Matthew McGillivray, Nick Heywood and Mollie Partridge share 5th spot with 14 points each.
