Punter's Intelligence Wrap - Randwick 16th December

Boston Rocks was one of the more heavily backed favourites at Royal Randwick on Saturday, and he went to a new level, recording a career peak figure.

The gelding lined up in the Benchmark 72 event over 1100m, and although he had every chance in the run, he recorded a slick overall time to score.

Punter's Intelligence recorded he ran 1:02.74, which was approximately 8 lengths quicker than the 2YO Handicap (1100m).

The three-year-old travelled well into it, and when Tim Clark asked for an effort, he sprinted 11.12 for his 400m-200m split. Further, he maintained a solid finishing speed to the line, and the race rated highly relative to the day.

He had only the one trial leading into Saturday's assignment, so expect him to step off this effort, and the Gosford Guineas is his target.

Infatuation was brave after always facing the breeze in the genuine tempo and never shirked his task to the line.

Union Army and Castillian were eye-catching runs and can both be followed.

Union Army got too far back after beginning slow and wasn't suited over the 1100m. He flashed home, running the fastest final 600m race split in 33.35.

Castillian, now in the hands of trainer Joe Pride, ran one of the fastest final 400m splits of the meeting in 22.45. Watch for him deeper into a prep and over more ground.

Accredited had excuses and can bounce back with a more positive race setup next start.

Time To Boogie, who also was returning from a spell, won the Benchmark 78 event over 1000m and did it easily.

The four-year-old sat outside the leader in a moderate tempo and always looked in control.

He sprinted hard and clocked the race's third-fastest final 200m in 11.54. He can only improve off that effort.

So Good So Cool's run had sectional merit after being retrained from a wide draw, and he just had too much to do.

The Sara Ryan trained galloper had to exert all his energy between the 600m-200m but still clocked the meeting's quickest final 600m in 32.70. He can settle closer up in distance and has come back well.

Ringarossa had the pace/bias against and ran the meetings quickest final 200m in 11.40.

Glory Daze returned as a gelding, and his effort was full of merit.

He always faced the breeze at a fast pace, and the Handicap's first 1000m was run in 59.24, approximately 9 lengths faster than the Benchmark 72 Midway (1600m).

To his credit, he never shirked his task to the line; while the other on-pace runners faded and past the post, he was strong.

It's worth noting some other sectional performers, including Monfelicity, who, after beginning awkwardly, just got too far back.

The mare had the race shape against and was outpaced up-tempo, but to her credit, she built through the gears well and ran the race's quickest final 200m in 11.76.

Acapella Sun and Emperor had no luck in the TAB Highway (1000m) but still recorded fast closing sectionals.

Acapella Sun was checked/blocked at critical stages and, once clear, reeled off the meeting's fastest final 200m in 11.51.

Emperor started a short-price favourite but never saw daylight for most of the straight and still ran the seventh-quickest final 600m in 33.16.

Fastest last 600m: So Good So Cool 32.70
