Punters Intel Wrap - Rosehill 25th November

There’s no way Orcein will start a $41 chance when he has his second start after a slashing debut third at Rosehill on Saturday.

While all eyes were on the heavily backed Plague Stone, Orcein and fellow debutant Wild Planet stood out with their finishing bursts in the 1100m two-year-old sprint.

Punters Intel data revealed Orcein’s final 200m was a race best 11.40 and on first look his last 600m of 33.87 is impressive for a first starter.

Then you look at Wild Planet, the Animal Kingdom colt, who managed a 10.95 to pick up ground from the 600m-400m and a last 200m of 11.51.

His last 600m of 33.55 was easily the best of the race and he’s a horse with scope to excel over a bit more ground.

As for Plague Stone, he did a lot of his work early trying to fight Brenton Avdulla running 10.99 from the 800m-600m.

You probably didn’t notice lightly raced filly Burden Of Proof steaming home into fourth place in the second event behind Bull Market.

She was also a $41 chance and rattled off the best splits for each of the final three furlongs of 11.47, 11.29 and 11.84 for the fastest final 600m of 34.60 in the 1400m event. Add to that she covered more ground than any other horse running an extra 8.2m.

Morton’s Fork’s first run as a gelding suggested he might be ready to return to form.

A Group 2 winner at three, Morton’s Fork produced a slick last 600m of 33.44 to run fourth with a last 200m of 11.24 some excellent work late.

Tearaway leader Don’t Tease Me opened up a gap of over 14m before holding on to win the 1100m Benchmark 80 over short priced favourite Bon Amis.

Behind them was an eye-catching fourth from Secret Trail, running the best last 600m of the day in 32.99. That was made up of 10.84, 10.76 and 11.37 home.

Chris Waller’s stayers Vaucluse Bay and Xebec were well beaten in their returns over 1500m in the finol event at Rosehill but signalled they’ve come back nicely.

Vaucluse Bay sprinted home in 33.34 and Xebec wasn’t far behind in 33.37. It’ll be interesting to see what they produce next start over a more suitable trip.

Fastest last 600m: Secret Trail 32.99

Most ground covered (to win): Dagny +9.4m.
