Past Three Wins: Expressway Stakes

By Brad Gray

This year Music Magnate is a very popular favourite but first let's have a brief look back at the past three wins of the G2 Expressway Stakes. A punter never forgets!

OUR BOY MALACHI (2016)

The Rocky Rocket was first-up after a bleeding attack in the Expressway Stakes and despite being a betting drifter, he put a hole in his rivals with a brilliant display of sustained speed. Solicit ran second. It was his 18th win in 22 starts at the time.

WEARY (2015)

Weary zipped up along the fence to grab Driefontein right on the line in the 2015 edition of the race. Race favourite Panzer Division finished fourth. Few would have predictied it but it turned out to be the French import's last ever win before being retired.

APPERANCE (2014)

We've seen some brilliant mares race over the past decade and four-time Group One winner Appearance is up there with the best of them. She showed a devastating turn of foot first-up in the 2014 Expressway Stakes before doing the same in the Apollo and Canterbury Stakes.
