Outcome Of Appeal By Elizabeth Hasler

Licensed stablehand Elizabeth Hasler lodged an appeal against conviction and penalty after being found guilty by Racing NSW Stewards under AR175(q). Following a Stewards inquiry on Friday, 20 April 2018, Ms Hasler was disqualified for a period of six months, to commence immediately and to expire on Friday, 20 October 2018.

An application by Ms Hasler for a Stay of Proceedings was opposed by the Stewards. Pending the hearing of the Appeal, the Appellant was granted a stay to only perform clerical and related duties at the place of her employment at Randwick Racecourse. This appeal was heard on Friday, 31 August 2018 commencing at 9:30am.

The Panel gave the following orders:

1. The appellant's licence as a stablehand is suspended for a period of 12 months beginning today and ending on 31 August 2019, during while period the appellant will be permitted to perform clerical and related duties at the place of her employment at Randwick Racecourse

2. Pursuant to AR196(4) suspend the operation of that suspension from 1 January 2019 on condition that the appellant
(a) Is of good behaviour
(b) Does not breach the rules of racing during the period of 31 August 2018 to 31 August 2019

3. Fifty percent of the appeal deposit is forfeited
