Mentor - Apprentice Jockey Training (Casual Positions)

Mentors for Apprentice Jockey Training (Casual Positions) are available in the following NSW regions:-

1. Northern Rivers / Mid North Coast Racing Association 2. Southern Districts Racing Association 3. Northern HNWRA, Central & Western Racing Association

Racing NSW is responsible for the leadership and regulation of thoroughbred horse racing in NSW including the provision of services for the training of apprentice jockeys in this state.

An excellent opportunity has now arisen for a mentor and coach to join the training department of Racing NSW. The role would suit someone wishing to supplement their income working at race meetings, trackwork, recruiting and promoting careers in racing.

Primarily a field position, you will be responsible for the effective instruction and coaching of prospective or current apprentice jockeys in the identified region of Country NSW. Your role will focus on the successful development of riders and raceday coaching.

To be successful in this role you: • will have experience as a professional jockey • be able to provide team support and a hands-on management style • are vibrant, innovative and self motivated • have a strong work ethic and the ability to work well under pressure • have superior communication and interpersonal skills • be prepared to travel to race meetings and various locations if required • be prepared to undertake required assessment and workplace training • have a current working with children check or prepared to obtain one and • be prepared to obtain a Training and assessment qualification should that be required Interested?
