It’s the form line any owner would like to see appearing next to their horse’s name, but despite the recent credentials of Maddison Avenue she could again prove to be a knockout runner at Nowra on Sunday. Maddison Avenue has won three of her past four starts at odds of $26, $2.60 and $21 and will line-up with a near recent perfect record in the Milton Ulladulla Bowling Club Class 3 (1400m). Her only failure in that time was an eighth at her final start last preparation. Trainer Marc Conners and jockey Winona Costin have a big weekend ahead teaming up with Maddison Avenue and also Tennessee Hussy in the feature race at Nowra – the Tierney Breed and Race Mollymook Cup (1200m). Conners only two runners at Nowra will follow his Melbourne trip with Super Too who Costin will partner in the $200,000 Caulfield Sprint on Saturday. Conners said there is a lot to look forward to and he hopes to celebrate with at least one or two wins. “All of the horses have been racing well and the few we have in this weekend have winning form,” he said. Conners and Costin are coming off a big win with $15 chance Royal Stamp at Kembla Grange on Thursday. The trainer intends to keep his winning run going especially with long priced winners. He has a good opinion of Maddison Avenue who is only lightly raced and has continued to improve in her nine start career. It has only been in recent appearances that Maddison Avenue has put together a run of wins at Nowra, Goulburn and Hawkesbury. “She won very well first-up and this is her second run back. She gets in well at the weights at only 1.5 kilograms above the minimum and I expect her to be hard to beat again,” he said. “She steps up in grade but she is up to this race.” Conners will also start Tennessee Hussy who is first-up from a spell in the main race on the seven event program. Tennessee Hussy is first-up since late June and has only finished second once in six previous first-up tries. Conners expects Tennessee Hussy will need the start to improve her race fitness. “She isn’t usually at her best first-up. She had a good campaign last time winning a couple with a few placings and raced in fairly good company,” he said. Coolotta was an impressive last start winner and along with stable mate Chief In Command provide trainer Paul Murray with a great hope of landing the quinella.
