Licensed Trainer Rick Worthington Fined $1000

Racing NSW Stewards today conducted an inquiry relative to a stable inspection conducted on 16 December 2016 of the Warwick Farm stables of licensed trainer Mr Rick Worthington.

Evidence today was taken from Mr Worthington, Racing NSW Senior Official Veterinarian, Dr Craig Suann ARFL General Manager, Mr John Keledjian and Racing NSW Chief Investigator, Mr Nathan Hayward.

Mr Worthington pleaded guilty to an offence under AR80E(1) of having in his possession 6 substances that were not registered and/or labelled and/or dispensed in accordance with the relevant state and commonwealth legislation.

Having considered relevant matters in respect to penalty, including Mr Worthington’s prior offence under this rule, he was fined the sum of $1000. Mr Worthington was placed on notice that further breaches in the near future may impact upon his trainers licence.

The Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the discovery of the product NU-EX-CELL at Mr Worthington’s stables on 16 December 2016, to allow the ARFL to conduct further analysis of the substance.

Mr Worthington was advised of his rights of appeal.
