John Schell's Tips For Hawkesbury (Tuesday)

By John Schell

Selections based on a good track

Race 1 - 1:15PM RACING MATES 'LET'S TALK' 4YO&UP MAIDEN HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

2. El Toro Macho had a number of trials before making his debut and finishing in third placing at Newcastle. He was safely held in that event but was doing his best work on the line and should have derived benefit from the run. 1. Everybody Rise has shown ability with seven placings from 11 starts and hasn’t been beaten too far in his most two recent runs. Expect him to be prominent again. 4. She Swings was placed in her first two starts and while unplaced in three subsequent runs she hasn’t been too far away. This looks within her reach. 5. Overland resumed from a spell with a down the track Kembla Grange effort but was placed in his initial campaign and is capable of improvement.

How to play it: El Toro Macho WIN.

Race 2 - 1:50PM WELLBEING MAIDEN HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

4. Casserousse debuted with a sixth behind Akaysha and Beadman earlier in the year and is resuming here. She’s had two trials and won the latest of them and is set to sprint well fresh. 5. Gatwick is on debut and is a recent Warwick Farm trial winner. 3. Yoweri had his first start when placed at Goulburn and looks to have talent. 6. Ligularia is on debut after two trials and a forward showing wouldn’t surprise.

How to play it: Casserousse WIN.

Race 3 - 2:25PM RACING MATES RESILIENCE PROVINCIAL MAIDEN PLATE (1500 METRES)

7. Blue Eyed Brigid had two starts earlier in the year and then resumed from a spell with a sound second at Newcastle at her third start. She is back to her home track here and gets her chance to break through in the small field. 3. Ridgeback was placed at Kembla Grange on debut and then sent for a break after a midfield effort there. He resumes after two trials and won the latest at this track. 4. Lady Yarrow has been thereabouts with placings in four of seven starts, while 1. Attestor hit the line well for a last start second at Nowra.

How to play it: Blue Eyed Brigid WIN.

Race 4 - 3:05PM MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

7. Margin Call had looked good in a couple of trials before debuting with a strong win at Canberra. He hit the line well in that event and only needs to repeat that to go on with the job. 3. Land Bank charged home in a solid display to score at Scone at his latest start and looms as a contender again. 4. Nesrine won well at this track when resuming and must be considered among the chances again. 1. New Business is resuming on the back of two trials and bears close watching.

How to play it: Margin Call WIN.

Race 5 - 3:40PM RICHMOND CLUB F&M BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

7. Fast Track is resuming from a spell here after two trials and was a winner on debut as a short-priced favourite. She was unplaced in her other three starts but looks to have the talent to return with a solid display. 10. Emilia Jane has been racing well with placings at her last two starts and she is worth thought again. 6. The Mona Lisa has won two in a row at Goulburn either side of a spell, while 2. Diamond Show is resuming and should be doing her best work late.

How to play it: Fast Track WIN.

Race 6 - 4:20PM ELITE SAND & SOIL MIDWAY BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1800 METRES)

3. Casablanca Express was hard fit after a number of runs this preparation and hit the line well to score impressively at his latest start. Hs is suited by the extra trip and can go on with the job. 7. Koning has been just behind the placings in both runs since resuming and can make an impact over the longer distance. 8. Magic Pharoah has been racing well and was a last start placing at this track. 2. Squeezebox has been placed in three of four runs since resuming from a spell.

How to play it: Casablanca Express EACH WAY.

Race 7 - 4:55PM EVERGREEN TURF MAIDEN PLATE (1800 METRES)

5. The Big Blue is yet to win but has been placed in five of his six starts. He followed a second at Canterbury two runs back with another second at this track when last produced. He gets another chance to break through here. 1. Black Babylon was resuming from a spell when finishing third at this track behind Columbus and is suited by the step up in distance. 12. Swing State has only had the two starts but looks like the rise in trip will be to his advantage. 14. Alnair hit the line well when fourth at Nowra at her second start and can be thereabouts.

How to play it: The Big Blue WIN.

Race 8 - 5:30PM CLARENDON TAVERN CG&E BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

11. Tong Ho broke his maiden at Kembla Grange four starts ago and ran another good race at that track two starts back when finishing second. He comes into this after a last start fifth at Newcastle when not too far away and has the advantage of gate one. 2. Automne Tree is a Canterbury winner that is first-up from a spell in this on the back of two trials and is expected to sprint well fresh. 4. Scorched Lane has won a Randwick trial since failing to fire at Newcastle when last produced. 10. Hetzendorf was a winner here when resuming and could go on with the job.

How to play it: Tong Ho EACH WAY.

Best Bets:
Race 2 (4) Casserousse.
Race 5 (7) Fast Track.

Best Value:
Race 8 (11) Tong Ho.
