Jockey Quotes - The Kosciuszko

Handle The Truth held off Victorem and Bobbing to take out the $1.3m The Kosciuszko for Keith Dryden and Nash Rawiller.

This is what the beaten jockeys said after the race.

Nash Rawiller (Handle The Truth): “What a great effort. He set this horse for this 12 months ago. It’s amazing. We had a lovely run throughout. He was strong late.”

Tommy Berry (Victorem): “I had the winner’s back in the run. At the top of the straight I thought I was going to pick him up quite easily but on that firm track he just struggled to catch him late. The horse is going well, he was only first up and he’s going to take a lot of improvement out of it.”

Adam Hyeronimus (Belflyer): “That was disappointing - wasn’t his normal self. We’ll have to see how he pulls up.”

Hugh Bowman (Noble Boy): “I was really happy with him. The firmer ground and the 1200m got the better of him today. His run was very good.”

Kerrin McEvoy (Don't Give A Damn): “Ran a really good race. This is the minimum end of his ideal trip and he just found the ground a bit quick for him in that final furlong but it was a good run. Danny had him in great order.”

Koby Jennings (Bobbing): “Absolutely outstanding. We know he’s going to be better as he gets to 1400m and a mile but that was about as good a first up run as you can get from a horse. All concerned should be very proud of him.”

Glen Boss (Tarbert): “Eight-wide and that was the end of my story.”

Brenton Avdulla (Suncraze): “He struggled. He’s not the horse he was 12 months ago.”

Keagan Latham (Star Boy): “Over the moon with his run. We had the widest draw so we had to use him a bit. Unfortunately he was caught very wide but he stuck to his guns and ran his heart out. Hopefully he’s a contender next year.”

Mark Zahra (Up Trumpz): “He went okay. A lower grade is his go.”

Josh Parr (Awesome Pluck): “He was disappointing. He has ability but his brain lets him down at this stage.”

James McDonald (Notation): “The track was too hard. The blinkers actually fired her up.”

Robbie Dolan (Press Box): “Ran really well. I’ll be looking forward to seeing her in the Country Championships - the 1400m should suit her.”

Tim Clark (Luna Mia): “She was afforded a lovely run in behind the speed. At no stage in the straight did she get a chance to get out and have a crack at them. I feel she would have been right in the finish if she did.”
