Jockey Quotes - Rosehill Guineas

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 1 $750,000 Sky Racing Rosehill Guineas (2000m) at Rosehill Gardens.

James McDonald (Broadsiding): “It was one of those moments where you're doomed if you do and doomed if you don't, so we rolled the dice, had a crack, paid off, but like James said, there was no real plan, just go with the flow. At the first bend, I thought, oh no, then one worked out, I ended up with a 1-1, and it was a good win, a really good win.

“I was just thinking, glad Waller doesn't have one in The Galaxy, because he’s a chance of winning them all, but it was nice to get the photo, the horse deserves it, he's a really great colt, he's done a marvellous job. Yeah, he's done a marvellous job today, and yeah, proud of him, he's run the 2,000 out, brilliant.”

Jason Collett (Aeliana): “Really good. Took a bit to settle. Once she got into a rhythm and got clear, she charged late.”

Tyler Schiller (Swiftfalcon): “Very gallant run. He is possibly suspect at the 2000m especially when he has to make a move when we have to get within striking distance of the favourite. I thought he did a really good job. He was still strong late. Has come up against a couple of cracking horses. Back to a mile in the Doncaster will suit him perfectly.”

Jamie Melham (Goldrush Guru): “Worked out we cannot lead on this horse. He is too aggressive.”

Blake Shinn (Checkmate): “He ran well. The set up of the race didn’t suit him. Nice horse. Will be better for the experience.”

Mark Zahra (Plymouth): “He ran well from a Derby point of view. Got held up at the top of the straight but finished off well.”

Martin Harley (Savour The Dream): “He was a bit fresh early and overdid it in a steadily run race.”

Zac Lloyd (Our Benefactor): “Tried hard. His last 200m was good.”

Chad Schofield (Kosuke): “He is a real stayer. He wants longer.”

Josh Parr (Majorca Sunset): “He put up a bold effort. Proud of his performance. Ran well.”

Tom Sherry (Bernen Win): “Quite proud actually. Horse ran really well. Had a good progression from a Midway last start.”
