Jockey Quotes - Millie Fox Stakes

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 2 $250,000 Rosehill Bowling Club Millie Fox Stakes (1300m) at Rosehill Gardens.

Zac Lloyd (Electric Girl): Obviously when you’ve got the (Tyler) Schiller (Mark) Newnham combination, they always make it a good gallop and I couldn’t have had it any better. Geez I was lucky, once the draw came out I was very confident. Once I saw the favourite (Mariamia) get across quite cheaply I thought she might be hard to beat, but my mare dug in deep and she’s a quality mare.

“When I straightened I just had to go through my gears slowly and steadily and try not rush her through it. She felt like she was going to give me a lot, I just had to help her through that tough 400m to 300m mark, but she really extended nicely to the line.”

Tyler Schiller (Expat): “She was super brave today. I thought she hasn’t got great form on good tracks but today she showed she can do it on both. Probably just got done by the one loving good tracks but once she gets a wet track she will be right.”

Brenton Avdulla (Roots): “She was really good. 1300m this level though she just found it a bit sharp and was off the bit a fair way out but she closed well. She is in for a good prep.

Tim Clark (Mariamia): “From where she drew we had to follow Expat across and she was chasing a really hot speed. Just was near her top for too long and it took away that short sharp sprint she does have.”

Kerrin McEvoy (Honeycreeper): “We just eased back in behind and they went really quick soon after that. She ran a good race for a staying filly first up.”

Jason Collett (Cliff's Art): “Good first up run. Very conservative early but finished it off well.”

Chad Schofield (Katalin): “Jumped a bit slow and we were always playing catch up from there.”

Dylan Gibbons (Grande Rumore): “She had no interest. Took no part.”

Rachel King (Pavitra): “It was a super first run back. Hit the line hard and ready to get home further.”
