Jockey Quotes - Inglis Sires'

Beaten in a Newcastle maiden seven days earlier, El Dorado Dreaming becomes the longest priced Group 1 winner at The Championships to date.

Find out what the jockeys made of their horses’ runs in the Group 1 Inglis Sires’ (1400m) at Royal Randwick.

Damian Lane (El Dorado Dreaming): “I thought i got beat and I was filthy with myself but we got there and obviously she has a bucket load of talent.

“I went back from the wide draw seeing most of the field I think I was second last and as we turned for home I thought ‘this horse is travelling’.

“I thought I may have waited a bit to long on one earlier in the day so i just went for home and I thought I had done the opposite and thought I got done, what a thrill.”

Zac Purton (Oohood): “She burst through like she had the race won, but then just seemed to pull up.”

Brenton Avdulla (Outrageous): “He ran terrific, didn’t get a lot of luck, he finishes right there if he gets any.”

Glyn Schofield (Encryption): “He ran well, had a lovely run just behind the speed, battled on well late.”

Kerrin McEvoy (Long Leaf): “Nice run, he presented to join in as we approached the furlong but just levelled out the last bit, we’ll see how he pulls up and maybe press onto the mile.”

Blake Shinn (Not A Single Cent): “He went very well, he was virtually untested in the straight which was unfortunate, lovely horse he’ll go to the Champagne and be very hard to beat.”

Tim Clark (Spin): “He toughed it out pretty well after covering ground, probably the last little bit of the 1400m sees him out.”

Mark Zahra (Bondi): “He was good, he was wide from the gate but he was still 100m to go, ran well.”

Jason Collett (Seberate): “Over-raced early, got a bump at the 800m which put him right off balance.”

Sam Clipperton (Tchaikovsky): “Had a lovely run and travelled beautifully, didn’t let down so a bit disappointing.”

Josh Parr (Ragged Rascal): “Slightly one-paced today.”

Ben Melham (Ringerdingding): “Probably found it a bit too far.”

Michael Walker (Adana): “He just couldn’t keep up early, nice horse, just not there yet.”

Craig Newitt (Affogato): “Got squeezed out the back and was never in the race.”

Damien Oliver (Seabrook): “She bungled the start and never really travelled after that, just not ideal, she didn’t travel as well as she can, she still ran okay but not as well as she could have.”
