Jockey Quotes - Expressway Stakes

Trapeze Artist proved too strong in the $200,000 G2 Expressway Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens but there were a number of eye-catching (and forgivable) runs from the beaten brigade.

Trapeze Artist winning the Expressway

Tim Clark (Trapeze Artist): Really good return. He is the sort of horse that will keep improving this prep. I had to use him a bit to get there but once I come back he travelled well. If anything the leader didn’t take me far enough so he could left there earlier than I would have liked but he was really strong to the line.

Tye Angland (Ace High): Very good. I didn’t expect him to do much more than that over this trip. He jumped well, struggled to hold his spot over the trip but was strong through the line. He is definitely a lot bigger and a lot stronger. We just have to get his fitness up and over more ground.

Rachel King (Memes): The saddle slipped really badly out of gates, backwards, and she wasn’t really comfortable after that.

Brenton Avdulla (Showtime): He ran terrific. He got back, settled and hit the line well.

Kerrin McEvoy (Global Glamour): She ran well but is probably better suited out to 1400m.

Jason Collett (Addictive Nature): He was held up initially turning for home but I felt I had time to get out and get there. I was just unable to pick him up. I think he is going to be suited to 1400m and the mile.
