Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 2 $1,000,000 Catanach’s Jewellers Callander-Presnell (1600m) at Royal Randwick.
Jason Collett (Ohope) “I think that 14 to the mile is probably his go. He's a big boy, but lovely horse. He's got a fair bit underneath you. He's a lovely type. He's mild, fine, sits lovely. He's going to be a good type.
“I was pretty confident over the rise. I was in the right spot; I knew where Nash was and obviously, yeah, Tommy. I was full of horse over the rise.
“It's just nice to get on some good stuff today. It’s been quiet the last couple of weeks, but I've just reflected on the horses that you get to see the kids ride, and today I'm on the good ones.”
Ohope wins Callander-Presnell
Nash Rawiller (Rivellino): “He was a little bit keen early, had to come back a length to help switch off. Travelled up nice, probably needed an ounce more of luck, but he gradually got his way to the outside, I felt like he could reel in the winner, sectionally he may not have been able to, but that’s what he felt like. He’s taken a while to get right, Kris may want to find another race for him now, because I think he’s one the way up.
Kerrin McEvoy (Fermoy): No comment.
Tommy Berry (Ruination): “Come a long way in a short period of time, just looking for a break now, obviously with the leader rolling along, he just wanted to chase it a little bit, took away from his finish a little bit late, keep an eye on him next prep.”
Alysha Collett (Dusty Bay): “Probably wants further, but he put up a good effort.”
Adam Hyeronimus (Duke Of Arrakis): “Unfortunately he’s still quite immature and he really lets himself down.”
Dylan Gibbons (Nordic Viking): “Gallant effort, he’s an unassuming type, but keeps running honest races, so I’m sure he’ll win a nice race soon.”
Tyler Schiller (Polish Playgirl): “Just a bit out-classed.”
