Isorich Primed To Deliver Again At Wyong (Tuesday)

By Frances O’Shea

Wayne Seelin is enjoying his best season to date and will rely on stable star Isorich to keep the winners coming.

The veteran galloper lines up on his home track on Tuesday, with Seelin very confident about his chances.

Isorich, who is rising 11yo, starts in the 1300m BM64 and should get the ideal conditions to produce his best form.

“He’s beyond super and I’m pretty upbeat about his chances,” Seelin said. "He’s right in these kinds of races, and he loves Wyong. He’s drawn a good gate and if it’s dry, he should be right in the finish.”

Isorich last tasted success at Wyong on March 9 over the 1350m, and there is little doubt he races well there, with seven of his 15 career wins coming on his home track. He has been racing consistently this preparation, but Seelin said it has been frustrating with the gelding missing runs due to rain.

“He thrives on racing but doesn’t do well on heavy tracks, so with all the rain around this year he’s been scratched a few times. His last run at Newcastle was just really a fill-in run. He had to cross from barrier 14 and just got a little bit tired late.

“If we don’t get any rain between now and Tuesday the track should be ideal, and I give him a great chance."

Grant Buckley has been engaged for Isorich with Seelin believing he races better with a senior rider.

“He still needs to be told what to do after all this time. As long as he can land in a forward position, he’ll be right in it.”

Isorich's prizemoney totals almost $770,000 and is showing no signs of slowing up and all being well, could race until he is 13.

“The way he’s going he’ll still be racing when they say he’s got to finish. He’s not showing any signs of not enjoying what he’s doing, so while ever that’s happening, he’ll keep going.”

The old campaigner has contributed to Seelin’s standout season, with his 12 wins to date surpassing his previous best by two.

“I’ve got a pretty good team at the moment. Apache Belle has won some for me and Invincible Kiss has put together a few wins, so it’s been one of my best seasons on stats. The hardest part is getting a good team and they are going good at the moment.”

The first of eight races gets underway at 12.20pm.
