Interstate & Overseas Stewards Extracts - Randwick - Saturday

Please be advised of the following Interstate and Overseas Stewards Extracts for the Royal Randwick race meeting on Saturday 24th June:

Race 2, Horse – 1 CALANDA (Doomben 10/6/17): On arrival at the course was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Had to be steadied away from heels near the 800m.

Race 2, Horse – 2 O'RACHAEL (Te Rapa-NZ 29/4/17): Came together and jostled with other runners for a distance on leaving the barriers.

Race 5, Horse – 3 ZOURKHAN (IRE) (Flemington 10/6/17): Second placegetter; prior to correct weight rider viewed the Stewards film before deciding not to lodge an objection. Inconvenienced between runners after passing the 200m.

Race 5, Horse – 5 NORTHERN JOURNEY (Moonee Valley 3/6/17): Hampered at the start. Rider stated that after being hampered at the start he found himself further back than anticipated.

Race 6, Horse – 3 SOUND PROPOSITION (NZ) (Doomben 20/5/17): Got its head up approaching the winning post on the first occasion, raced ungenerously and shifted out, hampering a number of runners. Hung out making the home turn. The veterinary surgeon reported that the horse was slightly heat stressed post-race.

Race 6, Horse – 4 AUVRAY (FR) (Eagle Farm 27/5/17): Trainer advised the horse, which led last start, would be ridden more conservatively today if circumstances permit. After beginning well the horse was ridden forward to the lead.

Race 6, Horse – 6 BERRY DELICIOUS (Doomben 3/6/17): Approaching the home turn had to be checked when tightened for room.

Race 7, Horse – 3 MOUNT NEBO (Doomben 20/5/17): Disappointed for a run near the 150m and then was unable to obtain clear running from this point.

Race 7, Horse – 9 TESSERA (Eagle Farm 27/5/17): Raced wide without cover throughout. Checked near the 200m. Rider reported that his mount travelled comfortably but failed to finish the race off as expected, which he attributed to the heavy track. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.

Race 7, Horse – 11 CHASE THE HORIZON (Moonee Valley 3/6/17): Raced wide without cover.

Race 8, Horse – 4 STAVIVA (Sandown-Lakeside 27/5/17): Slow to begin. Rider said his mount wasn’t suited racing inside of other runners and in his opinion would be better suited over further ground. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 8, Horse 12 – SMAKATUS (Sandown-Lakeside 27/5/17): Began awkwardly.
