Golden Edge To Rosehill Gardens' James Squire Run To The Rose

Star three-year-olds clash in the Group 2 $300,000 James Squire Run To The Rose this Saturday as Rosehill Gardens hosts a high-quality-packed prelude to the official start of the $87 million Sydney Everest Carnival.

A total of 140 entries on the 10-race card include three other Group races – the Group 2 $300,000 Irresistible Pools Sheraco Stakes, and capacity entries in the Group 2 $300,000 Toyota Forklifts Theo Marks Stakes and Group 3 $250,000 ACY Securities Ming Dynasty Quality.

Godolphin’s James Cummings trained Cylinder with Nash Rawiller aboard is a warm $2.25-$2 TAB favourite in the James Squire Run To The Rose as the gun three-year-old continues on a path towards a possible TAB Everest tilt. The stable has won three of the past four renewals of the James Squire Run To The Rose.

Unbeaten colt Libertad is a $4.20-$4.40 second favourite as he and others in the field also head towards the $1 million KIA Golden Rose at Rosehill Gardens on 23 September.

Australian Turf Club Head of Racing and Wagering, James Ross said: “The James Squire Run To The Rose each year provides amongst the best early spring three-year-olds and is a pivotal pathway to Group 1 and feature races deeper into spring.

“The past two winners of the James Squire Run To The Rose have been In Secret and Anamoe who have gone on to multiple Group 1 successes adding to a stellar honour roll of previous winners.

“The depth and quality of the Group races this Saturday including capacity entries in two of the Group races provides a strong lead into the start next week of the 10-week Sydney Everest Carnival."

Cylinder ($15) and Libertad ($26) are high in TAB Fixed Odds betting for the TAB Everest.

The Chris Waller trained Kovalica $5-$6 for jockey Kerrin McEvoy heads betting in a wide open Toyota Forklifts Theo Marks Stakes, a race the stable has won five times since 2013, including with the immortal Winx in 2015.

The Group 2 $300,000 Irresistible Pools Sheraco Stakes has attracted a cracking field including four Group 1 winners.

Zapateo for James Cummings and Zac Lloyd is a heavily backed $3.40-$2.60 early TAB favourite ahead of I Am Me for trainers Ciaron Maher and David Eustace and jockey Adam Hyeronimus ($2.40-$2.80). Both horses are at $26 TAB Fixed Odds in TAB Everest betting.

Godolphin with Cummings and Rawiller have another early TAB favourite in Tom Kitten ($3.40-$3.60 TAB) in the Group 3 $250,000 ACY Securities Ming Dynasty Quality.
