Golden Blooms At Rosehill Gardens This Saturday

De Bortoli Wines Golden Rose Day on Saturday, 23 September at Rosehill Gardens will offer Sydney’s richest three-year-old race in spring, the Group 1 $1 million De Bortoli Wines Golden Rose.

As a special offer celebrating this fantastic event, racegoers can add value to their race day experience by pre-purchasing a Punters Pack for $49 at theRaces.com.au. Representing more than $100 in value, the Punters Pack includes course entry, two standard drinks, food pack and a race book.

All valid pre-purchased tickets and ATC Members cards include free transport NSW services to ensure a hassle free arrival and departure from Rosehill Gardens.

Patrons will also have the chance to win a $1500 gift card when taking part in the De Bortoli Prosecco competition. To enter, contestants are required to post a photo to Instagram of themselves with a bottle of De Bortoli Prosecco or with the Prosecco Lady using the hashtags #popthisprosecco & #debortoliwines.

Headlining the racing, the Group 1 De Bortoli Wines Golden Rose has seen the $1 million feature become a stallion making race in recent years. Since 2008, eight of the nine winners have made it to the stallion barn, with last year’s winner Astern now standing at Darley.

The 2017 renewal will see Gerald Ryan-trained Menari ($2.00 TAB Fixed Odds) attempt to continue the trend of colts’ domination in the race.

The Snitzel colt has won convincingly in his last two starts and will be looking to join Paratroopers (2005), Denman (2009), Hallowed Crown (2014), Exosphere (2015) and Astern (2016) to win the Run to the Rose/De Bortoli Wines Golden Rose double.

On the second line of betting, Pariah ($6.50 TAB Fixed Odds), for Snowden Racing has also been entered. The colt finished second to Menari last start, however will claim 0.5kg back in the weight when he faces the Run to the Rose winner in a return bout.

The Group 3 $200,000 James Boag’s Premium Gloaming Stakes will be closely watched by punters on Saturday, with the winner gaining ballot exemption in the Group 1 $500,000 Moët & Chandon Spring Champion Stakes at Royal Randwick on 7 October.

This race is a solid form indicator for the Group 1 feature with eight of the last 20 winners coming via the 1800m test.

James Cummings’ Astoria has opened as the $2.50 TAB Fixed Odds favourite following his last start win at Newcastle on 15 September. Stablemate Sanctioned ($3.40 TAB Fixed Odds) has also been given support in the market. The Teofilo chestnut colt finished a respectable second in the Group 2 Stan Fox Stakes at Rosehill Gardens on 9 September.

Whilst at the Rosehill Gardens on Saturday, racegoers are encouraged to visit the new Eats at the Gardens food precinct in the old Betting Ring will see food trucks serve up a range of cuisines to enhance the race day experience. Happy as Larry pizza, Caminito Mexican, Greek Street and Trinhy’s Vietnamese will be complemented by a selection of James Squire craft beer.
