General Notice To Jockeys, Apprentices & Approved Riders

Please be reminded riders should be vigilant in checking race gear on a regular basis, particularly stirrup leathers, stirrup irons, and girth points (straps) on saddles.

Due to the nature of the raw materials used especially in ultralight gear, these items are subject to greater wear and tear with extended use.

Recently there have been examples of girth points which have been in use for some time, have been found to be in an unsatisfactory condition, and this may lead to potential safety issues.

Riders should consult with Stewards and/or Retailers of such products should they be in any doubt as to the condition of their gear.
