Front Page The Headline Act At Rosehill Gardens (Saturday)

By Mark Brassel

Goulburn trainer Matt Dale believes his evergreen sprinter Front Page has the attitude to still be a threat in anything he contests as the gelding heads to Rosehill Gardens on Saturday.

The nine-year-old is a $5.50 chance on TAB for the $200,000 Listed-Toyota Forklifts Starlight Stakes (1100m) where he will concede weight and age to all 12 of his rivals.

"He's a nine-year-old but is getting around like he's a two or three-year-old," Matt Dale told Sky Racing's Dave Stanley. "But he's very sound and happy, and is bullish about himself."

Front Page will carry 60kg with heavyweight jockey Nick Heywood aboard, not having raced for six weeks since a creditable sixth to Clear Thinking in The Kosciuszko at Royal Randwick on 18 October.

"We took him down to Melbourne but it was that raceday where it poured and the track deterioated, so we scratched him and bought him home," Dale explained.

"He's he's ticked over well and had a jump out and worked nicely on Tuesday morning so he'll head to Rosehill on Saturday.

"The form has really stood up from the Kosciuszko and it was a very strong form race.

"But he'll have to be at the top of his game just from a handicap point of view, as most of the field have close to the minimum weight chasing him and he'll have 60 kilos.

"Nick [Heywood] rides and he's fairly heavy so there'll be no deadweight to worry about.

"I expect him to run really well and if we decide to press on during the summer, it will be just a matter of spacing his runs and picking suitable races on suitable tracks.

"The ownership group has never been in a hurry with him; it's always the horse first and that's how we'll continue to be with him and play it one race at a time."

Dale will also be running Bravissima in the Captivant @ Kia Ora Handicap (1400m) where the mare is a $26 chance.

"She did surprise at big odds when she won at Randwick last time but I thought she'd run well that day," Dale admitted.

"She dictated in front on the tricky surface and a couple of the fancied runners couldn't pick her up; it was a great win and great for the owners.

"She's a mare that keeps trending the right way and she'll be competitive. She'll also have no issue stepping up to the 1400 metres - she'll actually be looking for further afterwards.

"She's always been on-speed but we dialled it up a fraction the other day after race one, when we thought it was going to be hard to make up ground from behind.

"We took the bull by the horns that day but she doesn't necessarily have to lead."

Another of Dale's runners is Satin Stiletto ($7.50) in the TAB Highway Handicap (1100m).

"She has a big weight for a little mare but we've taken the claim with Siena Grima back down to 57 kilos," Dale said.

"She's had two jump outs and a nice, balanced preparation so looking forward to getting her going. We'll stick to the Highways for the moment and then assess it. She's certainly Highway ability, that's for sure."

Dale's other runner is Dee Dee Express ($15) who is also in the Highway and has only raced three times for a win and two seconds.

"She is going well. Coming back to the 1100m suits off 27 days since her last run; she was just found a little wanting over the 1200m at Nowra, but I think the 1100m suits and right down in the weights.

"She's a horse with good ability and is still improving. She's probably got to a Highway a little earlier than I usually would run them but she's pretty seasoned for a lightly raced mare and I think I'll she will acquit herself well."
