Frankely Awesome Scone Showcase

The riches of Racing NSW Showcase prizemoney are on display at Scone on Friday with many promising types targeting the large open spaces of the Upper Hunter’s renowned surface.

None more promising than the Kris Lees-trained daughter of Frankel - Frankely Awesome - who is aiming to back up her eye catching debut at Newcastle with another victory in the Pryde’s Easifeed Class 2 Handicap over the 1600m.

The Cressfield-owned 3yr old filly’s debut win hasn’t gone unnoticed, being asked to carry 57.5kg against the older horses.

The local Scone stable of Brett Cavanough also has a couple of lightly raced gallopers including Mick The Hat who looks tough to beat in the Stratum Star @ Widden 900m maiden. Following a 2nd placing on debut to multiple stakes-placed Witherspoon over the same trip, barrier 3 and Jay Ford in the saddle is likely to see this Snippetson gelding fighting out the finish.

He will be followed in race 5 by stablemates Rosesay and Rockatoo in what seems an open Kia Ora Stud Maiden Handicap. Here they will be taking on another duet of Lees’ gallopers including current favourite Tippler who comes off a debut placing at Taree.

The eight race Showcase meeting at Scone commences with the first at 1:00pm.
