Blacktype Back At Rosehill Gardens This Saturday

The Listed $125,000 ATC Winter Cup and Listed $150,000 Civic Stakes headline blacktype racing on another strong nine-race card at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday.

Rosehill Gardens Racecourse Manager Chris Toogood has rated the course proper a Soft 7 on Thursday morning but is hoping the forecast weather will provide a chance for a slight upgrade.

“We had 1.5mm from yesterday which has pushed us back into a soft 7 from earlier in the week,’’ Mr Toogood said.

“But the weather forecast is for clearer skies over the next two days which gives us a chance to get back to a soft 6.’’

See the video link here at ATCTV for Chris’ track report from this morning and his expectations for Saturday’s meeting.

Four runners in the ATC Winter Cup are from Victorian stables as they take on the power of leading Sydney trainer Chris Waller and one of NSW’s most durable and popular horses in the Joe Pride trained Destiny’s Kiss.

Victoria’s leading trainer Darren Weir has launched a three-horse attack on the ATC Winter Cup, including the early $2.50 TAB Fixed Odds favourite Gallic Chieftain.

Weir has another last start winner in ATC Winter Cup Black Tomahawk ($9.50 TAB Fixed Odds) and stablemate Tick Tick Bloom ($17 TAB Fixed Odds), whilst the Mike Maroney trained Araldo Junior ($11 TAB Fixed Odds).

Waller’s runners Montauk ($5.50 TAB Fixed Odds) and Soviet Courage ($7 TAB Fixed Odds) sit behind the favourites in the market, whilst Destiny’s Kiss ($9.50 TAB Fixed Odds) has outstanding wet track credentials, having won 12 races on soft or heavy ground.

The Civic Stakes has a wider market with the early favourite Sir Bacchius ($3.90 TAB Fixed Odds).

Seven other runners ranging from $7 to $11 TAB Fixed Odds sit behind the favourite in early betting.

A special general admission ticket offer of five tickets for just $40 is available by booking online at theATC.com.au

Trains run to Rosehill Gardens as well as shuttle buses to the course from Parramatta and Strathfield stations.

Rosehill Gardens also offers free parking off the James Ruse Drive entrance, and high capacity free WiFi across the racecourse.
