Baker Upbeat After Rising Star Heat Win At Tamworth

Apprentice jockey Chloe Baker has recorded her first Rising Star Series win today, taking out heat 15 at Tamworth.

Baker piloted $2.80 favourite Underground Blues to victory for Dubbo trainer Connie Greig.

She was forced to travel wide for most of the race but made her move in the straight, kicking away finish half a length ahead of Slippery Eel (Jodi Worley) and Slippery Moss (Rachel King).

Chloe earned the maximum 7 points to jump to equal 9th on the Rising Star Series leaderboard.

Despite her mount being a scratching, Nyssa Burrells collected the minimum one point to maintain a narrow lead in the Series.

Burrells is on 21 points with Mikayla Weir hot on her heels with 20 points.

Blaike McDougall is in 3rd position with 18 points.

Heat 16 will be run at Coffs Harbour on 27 February.
