ATC Extends Partnership With Drinkwise Across Sydney Racecourses

Australian Turf Club has extended its partnership with Australian not-for-profit organisation DrinkWise for another three years to help promote the responsible consumption of alcohol while guests enjoy a day at the races.

The announcement comes as DrinkWise joins with the ATC for the Group 1 $750,000 DrinkWise Surround Stakes at tomorrow’s huge Royal Randwick meeting.

As an official partner of the Club and the Sydney Everest Carnival across four racecourses Royal Randwick, Rosehill Gardens, Warwick Farm and Canterbury Park.

And along with Rosehill Bowling Club, the DrinkWise message will form an important part of Sydney race programs throughout the year.

Established in 2005, DrinkWise is dedicated to help a healthier and safer drinking culture in Australia and has played a significant role in the continued generational shift around alcohol consumption.

Australian Turf Club Head of Commercial, Donna Forbes said the Club was pleased to extend the partnership for three years.

“The responsible service of alcohol is a major focus of the ATC and the DrinkWise message is an important one for us to promote across all ATC venues and racedays, ensuring all attendees know the importance of moderating their consumption if choosing to have a drink," Ms Forbes said.

“We want all of our customers to enjoy world-class racing and premium experiences all year round.""

DrinkWise Chief Executive Officer, Simon Strahan said: “DrinkWise and the ATC are committed to educating racegoers about the importance of responsible consumption so they can enjoy each event and not miss a moment of the action.”

“Australians are drinking in moderation more than ever. Research conducted by DrinkWise found that 93% of people drank responsibly at sporting events in 2023, compared with 83% in 2016.

"This change in drinking culture is a positive indication that Australians are more aware of drinking in moderation and that is a trend we want to see continue."

The partnership will focus on promoting DrinkWise moderation messaging across the four racecourses through point-of-sale, menu screens, social and fixed on-course signage.

DrinkWise will also work with other ATC partners to promote their important message through race sponsorships and activations.
