ATC Celebrates Australian Racing Hall Of Fame Inductees

Rosehill Gardens will join racecourses across the country this Saturday to celebrate the Australian Racing Hall of Fame Race Day, with a strong 117 acceptances across a nine race card.

New inductees in 2017 feature a Sydney contingent including champion race horses Winx, Light Fingers and Saintly.

Races will be named in acknowledgement of some of this year’s as well as past inductees, who have gained the highest accolade for their contributions to the racing industry.

Previous inductees, along with representatives for former and current members of the Hall Of Fame at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday will include Gai Waterhouse, Ian Craig, Jim Cassidy and James, Anthony and Edward Cummings.

Australian Turf Club Executive General Manager Racing Services and Membership James Heddo said Saturday would recognize some of the human and horse icons of the industry.

“The Australian Racing Hall of Fame is the highest accolade in the industry and it is wonderful to be able to celebrate these personalities and their achievements,” Mr Heddo said.

The nine race card features the Winx Hall Of Fame Handicap which has Moher, trained by Darren Beadman as the $5.00 TAB Fixed Odds favourite. The Lonhro gelding is on the quick back up following his fourth in the Scone Cup on 12 May.

Careless ($7.00 TAB Fixed Odds), for Mark Newnham, and Liapari ($7.00 TAB Fixed Odds), for Chris Waller sit on the second line of betting. Both geldings finished second at previous start.

Last start winner Bonny O’Reilly ($3.60 TAB Fixed Odds) has been strongly supported by punters in the TJ Smith Hall of Fame Handicap. The Bjorn Baker-trained mare has been successful over the Rosehill Gardens track on two occasions.

Paul Messara-trained Caerless Choice makes the trip down from Scone in the J B Cummings Hall Of Fame Handicap. The three-year-old boasts a record of four wins from six career starts.

Nothing Box ($5.00 TAB Fixed Odds) from Waller Racing will be aiming for back to back wins following a strong performance at Canterbury Park over 1900m on 10 May.

Racegoers are able to purchase an exclusive pre-sale offer of five tickets for only $40 at Ticketek.com.au. Adult general admission tickets are available for $15.00 at the gate.

Gates Open at 10.30am with the first race at 11.25am.
